Adapted from the Armenian word zartonk (Զարթոնք), SARTONK means “rebirth.” In 2009, we founded SARTONK to safeguard a boxing legacy that dated back over three decades. The quality and aesthetic value of our belts soon made us the world’s premier designer and fabricator of championship boxing belts.
Back in the 1970’s, Ardash Sahaghian, under the management of Phil Valentino, Sr. began designing boxing belts. There were very few sanctioning bodies then, and belts were made of 2-dimensional flat metal. Over the course of the next few decades, boxing bodies were established and Sahaghian was commissioned for nearly every belt. He revolutionized boxing belts by making them 3D relief sculptures.
Most visible of his works are the WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO world championship belts. Yet, Sahaghian's portfolio includes nearly all prominent regional models, specialty designs and early MMA, such as the original UFC belt. These, together with revisions to Ring Magazine belts, and historic reproductions like the John L. Sullivan and Rocky Marciano belts, account for his indelible mark on fight history. In 2012, Sahaghian was inducted into the New Jersey Boxing Hall of Fame as Boxing’s Master Craftsman.
Edward S. Majian, Ardash Sahaghian’s grandson founded SARTONK to preserve the legacy of his grandfather. Since the founding of the company, we’ve elevated the craft to an art form, making belts not only worthy of champions, but also for museum exhibits across the world. Through our unparalleled craftsmanship and commitment to excellence, we affirm a champion’s spirt and uplift the pursuit of glory.
